Dan Goggin joined us in Grand Rapids at AACTFest 2015. Antendees met the man who brought us the ingenuity of 30 years of Nunsense at a special session Thursday, June 25, starting at 9:00 AM.

Photo of Dan GogginWriter, director & producer, Dan began his professional career singing in the Broadway production of the drama Luther, starring Albert Finney. While appearing in a comic folk-duo he started writing. This led to scores for the off-Broadway musical, Hark!, the Broadway production of Legend, and two revues. Goggin received the 1986 Outer Critics’ Circle Awards given to Nunsense for Best Musical, Best Book, and Best Music.

His creations have been extremely successful. Nunsense and Nunsense 2: The Second Coming, both starring Rue McClanahan, were recorded for television, as well as Nunsense 3: The Jamboree with Vicki Lawrence. Nunsense A-Men! opened in New York in June 1998. Nuncrackers: The Nunsense Christmas Musical, premiered in October 1998. The Nuncrackers television special played on PBS starring Rue McClanahan with guest John Ritter, and received an Emmy nomination for Best Musical Score. Meshuggah-Nuns: The Ecumenical Nunsense premiered in 2002. In 2005 Nunsensations: The Nunsense Vegas Revue opened and in 2011, Sister Robert Anne’s Cabaret Class and Nunset Boulevard: The Nunsense Hollywood Bowl Show premiered.

Most recently, the original Nunsense celebrated its 30th Anniversary at the Saint Louis Muny.
